Allow our staff to set you up on a path towards success and guide you into the world of stand up paddle boarding. Instructors have been trained to assess and develop each individual taking a lesson. One of the greatest things about SUP, is the versatility in how one can use their board. Each Class is designed to introduce the participant to the different forms of stand up paddle boarding.
Beginner Intro Class
The Beginner Intro Class sets you up with the proper building blocks to becoming a smart and competent paddler, we cover equipment fitting, basic paddle strokes, launching and landing from a dock and paddling positions. During this lesson we also discuss weather precautions and how to plan and prepare for a day of paddling on your own.
Recreational Paddling Class
The Recreational Paddling Class is designed to be taken after the Beginner Intro Class as it will build upon what you have learnt before and follows suit with our progressional paddling plan. In this class we learn the difference between, recreational paddling areas and costal paddling area’s, along with the different skills, equipment and planning needed for these different areas. We start to focus on each participant individually in order to help improve their posture, form and paddle technique. This class will also focus on some advanced paddle strokes and conditioning towards paddling longer distances, with minimum strain on you body.
Costal Paddling Class
The Costal Paddling Class is designed to be taken after The Recreational Paddling Class as it will build upon what you have learnt before and follows suit with our progressional paddling plan. Here is where we put what you have learnt to the test, as we venture out further away from shore, the winds become stronger and the waters more choppy. This class will focus on the skills, knowledge and equipment need for paddling in a costal environment. Leaving from our Parlee Beach access point, we take participants out in the open waters, depending on weather conditions the skills taught in the class may vary from time to time.
The Down-Winder Paddle, as participants progress their skills paddling in a costal zone, we can plan for a shuttle pick-up, so that the group can experience a down wind paddle. Paddling from one location to the other with the wind at your back. This is done with the assistance of our safety boat, extra costs are included with a down wind paddle, to accommodate for the shuttle and safety boat assistance. Please ask for further details.
